Watch Paul McCartney Dazzle in Acoustic Version of ‘New'

In case you were wondering if Paul McCartney, Beatle, has still got it, there’s this video of him just a-messin’ around with his new song, “New.” The video was posted on McCartney’s YouTube page, with the following explanation:

“Last month, whilst getting ready to go on stage at Regina, Paul was caught on camera performing an impromptu version of ‘New’. This quickly turned into an acoustic performance when Paul was joined by the rest of his band for a run-through the song.” Whether that was actually an “impromptu” performance or not (are there just hi-def cameras that follow Macca around before every show?) it’s still charming as all get up in a very Ram-y kind of way.

Lennon Royal Court theatre, Liverpool

I feel I am back in the 60s, in a packed Batley Variety Club, tucking into the ubiquitous chicken in a basket, watching the stars of the day. But no, this is 2013 and I’m at Liverpool’s Royal Court Theatre with a meal in front of me that Jamie Oliver would be proud to have cooked (sea bass with all the trimmings) and a night of Beatles music to follow on stage. No other theatre offers anymore.

A rare photo book signed by Beatles legend John Lennon has reportedly sold on eBay. The book, a copy of Lennon's book In His Own Write, appeared on the auction site earlier this month and quickly racked up 46 bids, totaling out at $5,600.

The Beatles 50 Years Ago Today : Sunday, September 15, 1963

Royal Albert Hall, London

The Beatles headed this afternoon show, the annual "Great Pop Prom" promoted by Valentine, Marilyn and Roxy magazines in aid of the Printers' Pension Corporation. Eleven other acts appeared, including the Rolling Stones, DJ Alan Freeman was the compere.

On September 16th, the Beatles took off for holidays, John and his wife Cynthia traveled to Paris, where they were joined by Brian Epstein, George, with his brother Peter, visited his sister Louise in the USA, who had emigrated to Benton, Illinois in 1954, and Paul and Ringo went to Greece.
