The Beatles played Dodger Stadium in 1966 — louder than the Blue Crew beating the Giants eight days a week; and the Fab Four played the Hollywood Bowl the two years before that – recurring opportunities for your grandmas to put the "mania" in Beatlemania, perhaps providing the inspiration for the "Scream" movies.
Bob Eubanks was to blame for bringing the Beatles to SoCal, and he just won't let it be. Now, he wants to tell us all about it. That Mop Top flashback moment, "Backstage with the Beatles," is coming to the Civic Arts Plaza in Thousand Oaks on Sunday. Eubanks will be himself and Ticket to Ride, will be the Beatles.

On August 22, 1966, the Beatles flew into New York and gave two press conferences at the Warwick Hotel on West 54th Street. Asked their opinions on the war in Vietnam, they were succinct, John Lennon saying, “We don’t like it,” and George Harrison adding, “War’s wrong and that’s all.”
When a reporter asked, “Would you care to elaborate?” Paul McCartney said, “We would elaborate, but not here. … In England people will listen a bit more to what you say. Here everything you say is picked up and turned against you. There’s more bigotry in America.” The Voice‘s reporter, James Kempton (son of the well-known commentator Murray), noted, “Every pencil in the room came down.” And that’s when the quick-thinking 24-year-old McCartney decided that it might, in fact, be a very good moment to elaborate: “There are more people so there are more bigots.”

Yoko Ono was married to John Lennon for more than 10 years when he was shot and killed. Yoko Ono is 85-years old .
She was married to John Lennon for over ten years from 1969 to 1980 when he was murdered in Manhattan.
Together the couple had a son, Sean Ono Lennon, who was born in 1975.
John and Yoko met in London in 1966 and married three years later in 1969.
The Beatles broke up in 1970.

There’s a crazy rumour that’s persisted for over 50 years that Paul McCartney actually died in a car crash in 1966 and was replaced with a lookalike imposter.
It was so well-known that Life magazine referred to it in the title – Paul is still with us – of a 1969 cover story about the musician. McCartney himself referenced the ‘Paul is dead’ myth on his 1993 album Paul Is Live. He also parodied the iconic album art of Abbey Road, which conspiracy theorists alleged contained clues suggesting McCartney’s replacement with a dead ringer.

Sir Paul McCartney's Cavern Club gig will be remembered for a number of reasons - the atmosphere, nostalgia and timeless classics.
But, how did Sir Paul celebrate his second ever performance at the venue since his Beatles days?
Well, he chose to visit Wirral restaurant Burnt Truffle, which is known predominately for its meat selection.
The restaurant owned by Gary Usher , created a bespoke vegetarian menu on request for the former Beatles star and entourage.

After hinting at new music and the release of a double A-Side single, today (June 20), Paul McCartney announced the release of his 17th studio album, Egypt Station, for Sept. 7 on Capitol Records.
The announcement of the upcoming album, Egypt Station, named after one of the former Beatles’ paintings (see below) comes as extremely exciting news to fans who’ve been waiting almost 5 years for new McCartney music.
The rock legends most recent album NEW had immense success and fans can only hope for even greater music this time around. “Egypt Station starts off at the station on the first song and then each song is like a different location," McCartney said in a statement. "So it gave us some idea to base all the song around that. I think of it as a dream location that the music emanates from.”
He's also released two new tracks -- “I Don’t Know,” and “Come On To Me” -- and if they are any indication of what to expect, we’re in for a wild ride of head banging rock, as well as heartfelt ballads. Both singles, along with the rest of the album were produced in by Greg Kurstin and recorded between L.A, London, and Sussex.

Gloria Hiroko Chapman revealed how her killer hubby confided in her as he makes a bid for freedom after spending 38 years behind bars for gunning down Lennon on his New York doorstep.
But Gloria, 67, insisted her husband told her he didn’t follow through with his plot to kill the music legend, because of his love for her.
And she reportedly claims Chapman, now 63, dumped the gun he intended to use.
As Chapman faces his 10th parole hearing, his devoted wife insisted: “It didn’t matter how long Mark was in prison. I would wait for him.”
She even claims they have sex in a caravan during conjugal visits at maximum security jail Wende Correctional Facility in New York – and relax by making pizzas and watching quiz show Wheel of Fortune on TV.

"She likes everything from classical to contemporary and jazz.

“Strawberry Field”, the famous Liverpool landmark that was immortalized by John Lennon, will soon be open to the public for the very first time.
The site of a children’s orphanage that was frequented by the famous Beatle is being revitalized by The Salvation Army, which bought the Gothic Revival Mansion from a wealthy merchant’s widow in 1934.
In addition to making the location a training and work-placement hub for young people with learning disabilities, the restoration will also include a new Lennon exhibit that will function as a tourist attraction.
Attending the ground breaking ceremony was Julia Baird, the late singer’s half-sister. To commemorate the day, she buried a time capsule and praised the initiative.S

The Jacaranda, or the Jac as it’s widely known, has been firmly cemented in Liverpool’s music history since it opened in 1958.
And today, more than ever, it’s an exemplary venue for the the city’s rich music heritage.
Sure, back in the day it gave us The Beatles but now 60 years later The Jac is still making waves in the city.
The Jac was founded by Allan Williams who was known for being the Fab Four’s first manager.
He leased an old watch repair shop and transformed it into a coffee bar where John Lennon, Stuart Sutcliffe and Paul McCartney were known to be frequent customers.
Back then, the band was called The Silver Beetles and Williams gave the lads a chance to perform and rehearse in the venue.

The Australian-made Maton Mastersound MS-500 is one of more than 500 guitars and rock’n’rock memorabilia to go under the hammer, including a pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses owned by Harrison.
George Harrison, who died in 2001, was loaned the instrument while his regular guitar was being repaired, continued to use the guitar for several performances and was last photographed with it at The Beatles final performance at The Cavern Club on August 3 1963.
The iconic instrument, which was bought by Dave Berry and The Cruisers guitarist Roy Barber, will be sold by a UK private collected and auctioned on September 12 at Gardiner Houlgate auctions in Corsham, Wiltshire.

As a member of the Beatles, John Lennon is undeniably a British icon. For the second part of his life as a solo artist, he was also very much a New Yorker. However, Lennon’s life as a father, husband, and activist in New York City in the 1970s almost didn’t happen because of his status as an immigrant.
Lennon was already a music legend when he came to the U.S. with wife Yoko Ono in 1971. But he’d run afoul of then-president Richard Nixon, of all people, leading to a five-year immigration battle to allow him to stay in the United States as a permanent resident. Lucky for him, Lennon had the clout and the resources to persist with the case, which became a true legal odyssey, leading to celebrity testimonials, the brief establishment of a fake country, and an influential decision that would have huge effects on immigration law to this day.

It was the first number one hit by a solo Beatle, and had a long and complicated history following its 1970 release
“Every time I put the radio on, it’s ‘Oh my Lord’,” said John Lennon after his band-mate George Harrison scored the first number one hit by any solo Beatle. “I’m beginning to think there must be a God.”
Along with its parent album, All Things Must Pass, “My Sweet Lord” cemented the reputation of “the quiet one” as a great songwriter overshadowed by Lennon and McCartney.
George Harrison was inspired to write a multi-faith devotional song in 1969 after hearing the Edwin Hawkins Singers’ gospel hit “Oh Happy Day”. Billy Preston, a Beatles collaborator, was first to record “My Sweet Lord” (he also sings an intense version with Aretha Franklin’s backing band on King Curtis’s Live at Fillmore West album). But it was quickly eclipsed by Harrison’s own version, released in November 1970, bolstered by Phil Spector’s lavish production and an all-star cast of Preston, Ringo Starr, Eric Clapton and Badfinger.
