He has been in recovery after being struck down with a mystery illness during his tour of the Far East in May. So it’s no surprise Sir Paul McCartney opted to get away on a sunshine break as he was pictured enjoying a day at the beach in Ibiza on Sunday.
The 72-year-old was joined by his 53-year-old wife, Nancy Shevell, and a few pals as they lapped up the sunshine on the Spanish island. Paul was keen to make the most of the sunshine as he went for a quick dip in the Mediterranean Sea. The pair waded in the waves for a short while before making their way back up the beach to lounge with their fellow holiday makers. Ibiza isn't just for adolescent ravers and stag dos you know. The White Isle has something for everyone regardless of age, as Paul McCartney and his wife Nancy Shevell are demonstrating so beautifully. And they both looked in great shape as they enjoyed a bit of time in the sun.

Any show that starts with Liverpool's favourite Beatles song was always going to be onto a winner. In My Life has topped each of our readers’ polls of favourite Beatles songs in the last few years, and it was a fitting start to a tale talking the life story of one of the city’s favourite sons.
John Lennon – who somehow managed to be both the funniest and the saddest Beatle, the one who struggled all his life despite huge talents – was a maddeningly complex character. In this show, which is returning to the Royal Court less than a year after its last run, John is played by Mark Newnham and John Power. They portray the different eras in John’s life – from the cheeky schoolboy through to the dad who begged the world to give peace a chance. They are aided by an excellent live band with the kind of harmonies and musicianship that would make lesser Beatles’ tribute bands weep. The early scenes are a lot of fun, showing the band’s development from the Quarrymen through to the Hamburg days.

We are screening the film in the historic Avalon Theatre on Catalina Island on Sunday, July 6 at 7 pm. Pattie Boyd - former wife of George Harrison and later Eric Clapton - will be in attendance and has agreed to a rare interview immediately following the film. She met George on the set of the film and will share her memories of acting in the film, meeting the Beatles and her intimate view of the Beatles during the height of 'Beatlemania'. Using the Liverpool band's famous Abbey Road album cover, Daniel Sturridge, Steven Gerrard, Wayne Rooney and manager Roy Hodgson have been depicted as the scouse foursome. After defeat to Uruguay, England say Hello to Costa Rica on Tuesday but will likely have to say Goodbye to the tournament. However, the Three Lions will also need help from Italy if they hope to progress. On Thursday night, England defender Phil Jagielka was a nowhere man as Liverpool striker Suarez rose to head home. It seems all Wayne Rooney needed was love and a little help from his friends, though, as the striker scored his first World Cup goal to draw England level. England's day trippers twisted and shouted in the stands and had to come together to roar the team on.

The last time Paul McCartney played Candlestick Park he was a Beatle. That concert turned out to be their last together as a band. He was known as The Quiet One, but a night in his honour should prove to be anything but. In an evening dubbed All Things Must Pass, a 10-piece band will be celebrating the music of George Harrison at The Spring in Havant.
The show is dedicated entirely to performing music written by the former Beatle, who died of lung cancer in 2001. As well as the obvious hits he wrote for the Beatles – Something, Here Comes The Sun and Taxman, it also draws on the songs he created after their break-up includingMy Sweet Lord, All Those Years Ago, and many more. The Beatles legend cancelled the Asian leg of his world tour in May (14) after he was hospitalised in Japan with a virus. He flew home to London a week later to recover and was subsequently pictured looking frail and sickly.
McCartney also postponed the first dates on his U.S. tour, which was due to start in June (14), to give himself more time to rest. However, he was pictured looking well and in high spirits when he headed for dinner at The Ivy restaurant in the capital with his wife Nancy Shevell and a host of celebrity pals on Tuesday (17June14), the evening before his 72nd birthday. An inquiry was told Liverpool’s historic Welsh Streets can’t simply be saved because “Ringo may have walked there once.” Keeping half of Madryn Street, where Beatles drummer Ringo Starr lived until the age of three, leaves enough to tell the “Ringo story”, Rob Burns, urban design and heritage Manager at Liverpool council told the public inquiry into plans to redevelop the area.
The plans to develop the Welsh Streets include knocking down half of the street but retaining and refurbishing numbers one to 16. While Paul McCartney turns 72 on Wednesday, one fan revealed a piece of cake they kept from the musician's 22nd birthday, which he spent in Sydney. The Beatles star, who turns 72 today, took a stroll with his wife Nancy through their local area of north London. Wearing matching hoodies, the couple looked perfectly in sync as they strolled along the pavement casually. ELO frontman Jeff Lynne is teaming up with the BBC Concert Orchestra to play some of the band's greatest hits at a comeback concert in Hyde Park.
Jeff, who also founded the The Travelling Wilburys with George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty and Roy Orbison, is headlining the BBC Radio 2 show in September. He said: "I haven't performed live in quite some time, and I know the fans have asked for it a lot over the years. It's very exciting to come to Hyde Park with Radio 2 and do something this big, and I'm very much looking forward to playing my ELO songs for everyone." A set of candid photographs featuring George Harrison, John Lennon and Yoko Ono ahead of the Concert for Bangladesh have emerged for sale and are expected to sell for thousands at auction. In the photographs, the former Beatles appear to be on good terms despite the Fab Four splitting up a year before the landmark benefit gig in 1971. Sotheby's are placing the set of photographs, soon to be exhibited in New York, under the hammer at the A Rock N Roll History: From Presley to Punk auction on June 24.
